State Representative Thad Claggett is serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 68th Ohio House District, which includes southwest portion of Licking County.  In addition to serving as Chair of the House Technology and Innovation Committee, Claggett serves on the Commerce and Labor, Government Oversight, and Personal Insurance and Pensions committees. 

Claggett is a Civil Engineer and President at Claggett & Sons, Inc., a fourth-generation commercial and industrial General Contractor based in Newark.  

He is very involved in his community. Currently, he serves on the board for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB Ohio), and a board member of the Central Ohio and Ohio chapters of the Associated Builders and Contractors.  He is a past board member of the Licking County Chamber of Commerce.  For 17 years he was the President of the Licking County Library before taking on the Representation of Ohio’s 68th House district.

In 1997, Claggett was one of the founding members of his church congregation that is located in Pataskala.  He has served as the deacon chairman for over 25 years and has completed all the classwork for his Master’s Degree in theology and is currently in the process of writing his Master’s theses.   

Claggett has been married to his wife for more than 27 years and they reside in Newark  where they raised two children.
